day o' fun

nothing wraps up a week of studying about elephants like a trip to the zoo.

and nothing is as fascinating to a 4 year old than the size of its poop. quite remarkable actually. and later noted as the highlight of bennett's day. "mom, i still can't believe how big that poop was."
so the zoo is always fun. and when you tire of looking at such amazing creatures as lions and giraffes and gigantic elephants (which shockingly, young children quickly do...) there is of course the cardboard sliding hill of fake grass. oh... so that's why the poor kid has been complaining of his elbow hurting. nothing like a little rug burn.
hours and hours of fun. thinking of having one installed at my house.

and the highlight of the day for me was watching my kids enjoy each other. ella and bennett navigating the map and directing our every step, the generous sharing of snacks, giggling together about poop, contagious excitement over the snorting pigs, and really, just being the 3 greatest kids around.

What fun! Poop really is rather fascinating, especially to a kid. Probably notsomuch to the person responsible for cleaning said poop, though.

I love that last picture...precious!

That looks like one terrific zoo. I am sorry I haven't called yet. Crazy week, but I have been thinking about you all the time.

Okay, I can't get past the cardboard sliding hill thing, because it looks like there are other kids lined up to do it. Since I know you well enough to know that you didn't haul old cardboard into the zoo with you, I can only assume that this is an actual zoo attraction.

Did you have to pay for that?

Because - not to be a snob - but we have camel rides and polar ice slides at our zoo. A cardboard sliding hill thing seems a little, well, hicksville.

Just sayin.

well, angie, whatever makes you feel better about living in that sweltering desert. of course you have to have such attractions as your zoo. otherwise no one would venture outside their homes.

:)

oh, and the cardboard is free. its quite a fancy place, you know. and when i tire of looking at the cardboard hill, i just gaze off at the ocean.

miss you :)
